Sabre .049 for C/L

I have been flying these little Cox .049 powered Sabres for many years now. It all started back when my son, Owen, was about eight. At that time I also had a group of enthusiastic C/L fliers at the local High School in Canowindra. We built and flew Black Widow powered models and this was one the favourites because it performed well.

The original was designed by Dick Sarpolus and was intended for the TD.051. As such it was bigger than this one so I reduced the size to 3/4 to make a nippy reed valve version. Dick’s original design was presented in Flying Models along with its stablemate a Mig 15. I never did the Mig. That ones upto you. When I have time to find the plan I will put a copy here. Keep checking back.

Photo will be posted here when I find one

You can find a video of the Sabre flying on our Youtube channel here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX3udmdhw4k&t=5s

Here then are the plans and instructions. It will print out at the correct size for the reed powered version. The wingspan should be 21.5 inches. All the best with and let us know how it goes or if you have a question in the comments.
